Toshiba usually ship their computers with Windows XP Recovery CDs or Windows XP Recovery DVDs (also known as hard drive Recovery CDs, hard drive restore CDs, hard drive data restore CDs, hard drive Recovery DVDs, hard drive restore DVDs or hard drive data restore DVDs ). The Toshiba Windows XP Recovery CDs & Toshiba Windows XP Recovery DVDs are specifically designed for your Toshiba computer, usually contain an image of what was on the computers hard drive when it was first bought. They allow you to return the machine to its original state (as new). This is particularly useful if the machine has been attacked by a virus, if the original hard drive has developed a fault, or if you simply wish to replace or upgrade the hard drive, & need to re-install your original software.

The Toshiba Recovery CDs & Toshiba Recovery DVDs are also sometimes referred to as Windows XP installation CDs or Windows XP installation DVDs because they completely erase the contents of your hard drive & then re-install your operating system (Windows XP). However, they differ from normal Windows XP installation disks in that they usually restore all programs which were originally installed on the hard drive when the computer was first purchased (any additional programs or files which were not originally installed will be overwritten).

If your PC is running slowly, it could be due to a virus or Viruses. The computer could also be infected with spyware, malware or adware. If this is the case; repairing the current Windows XP installation will not help because the repair process will not remove infections. Re-installing Windows XP will wipe the hard drive & so will remove - delete viruses, malware, spyware or Adware & will also remove programs & utilities which may no longer be required.

Reinstalling Windows XP almost always allows the computer to "run faster" and the user can re-install the programs that they actually want & use.
