Major computer manufacturers usually ship their computers with one or more hard drive data Recovery CDs (also known as hard drive Recovery CDs, hard drive restore CDs or hard drive data restore CDs). The HP hard drive data Recovery CDs are specifically designed for your HP computer, usually contain an image of what was on the computers hard drive when it was first bought, & they allow you to return the machine to its original state (as new). This is particularly useful if the machine has been attacked by a virus, if the original hard drive has developed a fault, or if you simply wish to replace or upgrade the hard drive, & need to re-install your original software.

Many HP Computers do not ship with hard drive Recovery CDs, & in many cases the HP hard drive Recovery CDs are unavailable. Many other HP Computers ship with a special Recovery partition on the hard drive, which can be used to restore the HP hard drive to its factory settings (complete with original programs). Our HP Recovery CDs perform the same functions as the original HP Recovery CDs and will even create a special Recovery partition (if the HP computer originally shipped with a Recovery partition).

The HP  Recovery CDs are also sometimes referred to as installation CDs because they completely erase the contents of your hard drive & then re-install your operating system (Windows). However, they differ from normal  installation disks in that they usually restore all programs which were originally installed on the hard drive when the computer was first purchased (any additional programs or files which were not originally installed will be overwritten).

Many HP Computers do not ship with hard drive Recovery CDs, & in many cases the HP hard drive Recovery CDs are unavailable. Many other HP Computers ship with a special Recovery partition on the hard drive, which can be used to restore the HP hard drive to its factory settings (complete with original programs). Our HP Recovery CDs perform the same functions as the original HP Recovery CDs and will even re-create the special HP Recovery partition (if the HP computer originally shipped with a Recovery partition).

If your HP Computer has been attacked by a virus, or worse still; is infected with a virus which you cannot remove, the best course of action is often to re-install  from your HP Recovery CDs & then install quality anti virus & anti spyware programs.

If your HP computer has a faulty hard disk drive (eg; if the hard drive cannot be "seen" by the computer, if it has bad sectors, bad blocks or is making a clicking or loud whirling noise), the best course of action is usually to completely replace the hard drive & restore the correct HP version of  & the original software from your hard drive data Recovery CD. This process will usually involve replacing the hard drive & then placing the HP Recovery CDs in the CD ROM or DVD ROM drive & re-booting the system. The computer should then boot from the HP Recovery CDs & this will then return the computer to its original state (as new).

If required, replacement hard disk drives can be purchased on our HP Hard Drive Sales page, & these also come with full technical support & (on some Pavilion machines) even includes the option to have  pre installed.

If the correct HP  Recovery CD is not available, we can usually supply a version of  which can be legally registered with your HP MS product key.

If your original HP installation CDs / HP hard drive data Recovery CDs are damaged (scratched, cracked etc), they should not be used as this can cause problems installing Windows, or  may appear to install successfully but you will experience difficulties at a later date. The HP Recovery CDs will need to be replaced.

Note; If we do not have the correct hard drive data Recovery CDs in stock, we can often make new HP installation CDs from your originals (even if the originals are damaged).

All HP computers need to use small programs called drivers. Drivers simply tell the computer about items which are built into it (such as a sound card; for producing sound, video card for producing graphics etc), or attached to it (such as a scanner or printer).
