The Dell Latitude Recovery CDs are specifically designed for your Dell Latitude computer, usually contain an image of what was on the Dell Latitude hard drive when it was first bought, & they allow you to return the machine to its original state (as new). This is particularly useful if the machine has been attacked by a virus, if the original Dell Latitude laptop hard drive has developed a fault, or if you simply wish to replace or upgrade the hard drive, & need to re-install your original software.

The Dell Latitude laptop Recovery CDs are also sometimes referred to as Dell Latitude Win XP installation CDs because they completely erase the contents of your hard drive & then re-install your operating system (Win XP). However, they differ from normal Win XP installation disks in that they usually restore all programs which were originally installed on the hard drive when the computer was first purchased (any additional programs or files which were not originally installed will be overwritten).

If your PC has been attacked by a virus, or worse still; is infected with a virus which you cannot remove, the best course of action is often to re-install Win XP from your Dell Latitude Recovery CDs & then install quality anti virus & anti spyware programs .

If your PC is running slowly, it could be due to a virus or Viruses. The computer could also be infected with spyware, malware or adware. If this is the case; repairing the current Win XP installation will not help because the repair process will not remove infections. Re-installing Win XP will wipe the hard drive & so will remove - delete viruses, malware, spyware or Adware & will also remove programs & utilities which may no longer be required.

Reinstalling Win XP almost always allows the computer to "run faster" and the user can re-install the programs that they actually want & use.

If your Dell Latitude laptop computer has a faulty hard disk drive (eg; if the hard drive cannot be "seen" by the computer, if it has bad sectors, bad blocks or is making a clicking or loud whirling noise), the best course of action is usually to completely replace the hard drive & restore Win XP & the original software from your Dell Latitude Recovery CD.

This process will usually involve replacing the hard drive & then placing the Dell Latitude Recovery CDs in the CD ROM or DVD ROM drive & re-booting the system. The computer should then boot from the Dell Latitude Recovery CDs & this will then return the computer to its original state (as new).

If your original Dell Latitude laptop installation CDs / Dell Latitude Recovery CDs are damaged (scratched, cracked etc), they should not be used as this can cause problems installing Win XP, or Win XP may appear to install successfully but you will experience difficulties at a later date. The Dell Latitude Recovery CDs will need to be replaced.

All Dell Latitude laptop computers need to use small programs called Dell Latitude Drivers. Dell Latitude Drivers simply tell the computer about items which are built into it (such as a Dell Latitude sound card; for producing sound, Dell Latitude video card for producing graphics etc), or attached to it (such as a scanner or printer). One of the advantages of owning a Dell Latitude laptop PC is that the hard drive data Recovery CD (hard drive data restore CD) will usually contain Dell Latitude drivers for all of the items which are built into it, & these are needed for the laptop to work correctly.
